Dental Reception Skills (Advance)

The right receptionist, with the right skills and approach, will ensure the smooth running of the practice- covert enquires into new patients and more importantly guarantee an excellent patient experience.
This reception training programme enables receptionists to deliver consistently excellent front desk services, whether working alone or as part if a reception team.
The programme consists of four units
Unit One: Role of the dental reception within the practice
The purpose of this unit is to provide a framework within which learners can:
- Understand their role and responsibilities within the dental organization
- Communicate effectively in the workplace
- Demonstrate their commitment to workplace safety
- Evaluate the roles of lead organizations within dentistry
Unit Two: Administrative skills
The purpose of this unit is to provide a framework within which learners can:
- Explore how administrative systems add value to the business
- Identify the role of computers in practice administration
- Specify the receptionist’s role in assuring effective cash flow
- Determine the range of care schemes available to UK dental patients
Unit Three: Aspects of patient care
The purpose of this unit is to provide a framework within which learners can:
- Understand their role in marketing dental services
- Clarify ways to collect feedback from patients
- Introduce reception-based services to promote oral well-being
- Define the receptionist’s role in complaint handling
Unit Four: Financial aspects of dental reception
The purpose of this unit is to provide a framework within which learners can:
- Recognise the role of receptionist in maintaing cash flow
- Systems for collecting patients' payments
- Demonstrate how receptionists can observe the Standards for Dental Professionals
- Specify their CPD plan for the next 5 years
As a result of this training, receptionists will become:
- Interactive with practice managers to deliver on the practice's mission and vision
- Able to present the practice to potential new patients as being dynamic and caring
- Proactive in developing and promoting practice services
- Ready to increase their contribution success of the business
- Alert to ways they can promote the work of their colleagues in the dental team
This programme represents 24 hours of study leading to the development or revision of a reception procedures manual.

Entry Requirements
- Learners will need to ringfence time for my tutorials- 30 mins per week and study time of at least- 2 hours per week
